Welcome to the Duck Yacht Club -
A "No Worry's" Sailing Club!
The Duck Yacht Club is a Sailing Club whose purpose is to
promote
sailing on the Outer Banks amongst both locals and visitors. The
DYC will be putting on both weekly and weekend races and events
throughout our sailing season (see our calendar of events).
Nor'Banks Sailing is sponsoring this club by allowing members to
use their equipment, facilities and grounds.
Membership in this club will have its privileges!! Members will
be
able to participate in the races and events, rent sailboats and get
lessons at reduced rates at Nor'Banks, store their personal boats
at Nor'Banks, get discounts at local businesses and restaurants
along with getting exclusive Duck Yacht Club T-Shirts!!

Who Can Join?
>Anyone and memberships are
considered to be family memberships.
How much does it Cost?
>There is no initiation fee and the
charge for one year is $250.
What exactly do we get for membership?
> Free participation in the weekly racing series.
> Discounted entry fees for the weekend events.
> 50% off of all Sailboat Rentals at Nor'Banks Sailing on
Monday-Friday.
> All Sailboat Rentals at Nor'Banks Sailing are $20/hour on
Weekends.
> 25% off of all Instruction through the Nor'Banks Sailing School.
> Discounts around the area from local merchants who also support
and
enjoy sailing.
> Free membership card and exclusive member T-Shirts.
> Membership in a "No Worrys" sailing club that will get you
spending
time enjoying Sailing.
What restrictions are there?
> Members will have to play by Nor'Banks Sailing's rules
when renting
boats.
Tell me more about the racing?
> Nor'Banks is providing use of their 6 Hobie Waves, 4
Hobie Getaways
and 4 Windrider Trimarans as charter boats for the racing.
Private boats are welcome and multihulls will be the initial
focus. The DYC will be open to any other sailboat classes based on
the amount of interest. The Weekly Series' will be on Saturday
afternoons in the Spring and Fall and on Monday evenings in the
Summer. Weekend events include an Open House and Racing Seminar in
May, the Duck Cup in June, a Ladies regatta in July, a Youth
regatta in August and the Windrider Nationals and South Coast Wave
Championships Regatta over Columbus Day weekend in October.
If I am here on vacation and want to participate in the racing what
can I do?
> Visitors can join the club or pay a per event fee and
participate
either with their own boat or a charter boat (if available).
Can a member bring friends?
> Yes, friends can come one time per season and get the
same
discounts and/or participate in the events.
What if I have my own boat?
> Members will enjoy all the same privileges listed above
and will be
able to store their boat on site for a discounted rate.
What if I do not know how to sail?
> This is a great way for you and/or your family to
learn! Members
get discounts on lessons and rentals and belong to an exclusive
sailing club where sailors help sailors.
What if I have never raced?
> The DYC will be putting on at least one racing seminar
in May and
if demand is there, we can do another one later in the Season. Members
also get a 25% discount on lessons at Nor'Banks Sailing School.
Due to liability, sailors must have racing experience and/or
have taken our racing seminar or the Racing 101 Class from Nor'Banks
Sailing School in order to participate.
