Cruise around the Currituck Sound in our top-of-the-line, all-purpose single kayaks from Feel Free and Ocean Kayak. All rentals come with paddles, backrests and PFDs (personal floatation devices, a.k.a. life vests).
Nor’Banks has a great location for paddling with a beach to launch from, warm and shallow waters, and a nice stretch of undeveloped coastline directly to our south. Our staff will give you all the equipment and instruction you need to enjoy your paddle.

Nor’Banks has the best sit-on-top double kayaks from Feel Free and Ocean Kayak with PFDs, paddles and backrests.

Not strictly, but paddlers should have the strength and agility to handle a single kayak. Generally, children 12 and older can paddle on their own board on a calm day. Younger children can ride along, but keep in mind that you may be paddling for two.
Yes, you may use your life vest as long as it is Coast Guard approved. Please see our staff in the office for life vest approval before heading out on the water.
Customers of Nor’Banks may launch and park here. Neighbors may launch here, too, but we ask them not to park on-site.
Noncustomer parking is $10 per vehicle and subject to availability. Customers of Nor’Banks and the on-site restaurant, The Village, take precedence. If we are busy or likely to be busy, we can’t facilitate parking for kayak and SUP launching. Please give us a call at 252-261-2900 before you head over.
There is also a public kayak and SUP launch in Duck by the town hall.
You’ll have plenty of open water to paddle and explore, with a nice stretch of undeveloped coastline just south of our location and the picturesque town of Duck and the beautiful Soundside homes just to the north.
We ask you to stay upwind, close to shore and within about 1.5 miles of our location. We may impose more specific limitations based on weather conditions.
Yes, everyone is required to wear a life jacket regardless of age.
Yes, our larger single kayaks have room for a small child. You can also rent a double kayak if you want to paddle with an older child.
Absolutely! But, we ask that you bring your own pet life jacket, as we do not have any available to buy or rent.
